Z-ROD® 10W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil
General Information
AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil is specially formulated for classic cars and high-performance vehicles. It contains a high concentration of zinc (ZDDP) to protect flat-tappet camshafts and other critical engine components. Additionally, it features AMSOIL’s proprietary rust and corrosion inhibitors to safeguard engines during long periods of storage.

Outstanding Flat-Tappet Cam Wear Protection
Classic and high-performance engines typically use flat-tappet camshafts where the lifters and cam lobes constantly rub against each other, generating friction and heat. This leads to wear on the cam, which can reduce valve performance, horsepower, and overall engine efficiency.
Unlike other engine areas that use pressure lubrication, this part of the engine relies on splash lubrication, which provides less oil film protection. AMSOIL Z-ROD is engineered with high levels of ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate) to prevent metal-to-metal contact and protect against wear, including scuffing and scoring.
Superior Rust Protection
AMSOIL Z-ROD contains a specially blended formula of rust and corrosion inhibitors that outperform conventional oils, helping preserve engine internals during storage.

ASTM D-1748 Humidity Corrosion Test: Metal parts treated with AMSOIL Z-ROD showed no signs of oxidation after 192 hours, while many competing oils failed after just 24 hours.

Ideal for classic cars, hot rods, and modified engines requiring SAE 10W-30 viscosity, following API SL specifications.

Compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils, although mixing with other brands may reduce performance.

Not recommended for use with aftermarket oil additives or engine treatments.
Service Life
Classic and modified engines typically lack specific oil change intervals. However, the following guidelines apply to AMSOIL Z-ROD:

Up to 8,000 km (5,000 miles) or 1 year (whichever comes first) under normal use.

For heavily modified engines, change oil no later than 5,000 km (3,000 miles) or 1 year (whichever comes first).
