AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil is specifically engineered for classic cars and high-performance vehicles. It features a high concentration of zinc (ZDDP) to protect flat-tappet camshafts and other critical engine components. Additionally, it includes AMSOIL’s proprietary rust and corrosion inhibitors to ensure long-lasting protection during periods of storage or infrequent use.

Exceptional Flat-Tappet Camshaft Wear Protection
Classic and high-performance vehicles often use flat-tappet camshafts, where the lifters and cam lobes are in constant contact. This movement generates heat and friction, leading to potential wear on the cam lobes. Such wear can negatively affect valve operation, resulting in reduced power and efficiency.
Unlike other parts of the engine that use pressure lubrication, the camshaft area typically relies on splash lubrication, which provides less direct protection.
AMSOIL Z-ROD is fortified with a high level of ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate) to help prevent metal-to-metal wear, including scuffing caused by engine operation.

Superior Rust Protection
AMSOIL Z-ROD includes specially formulated rust and corrosion inhibitors that extend engine protection during storage better than conventional motor oils.

• ASTM D-1748 Humidity Test results show that metal parts treated with AMSOIL Z-ROD showed no signs of oxidation after 192 hours, whereas other brands typically withstood only 24 hours under the same conditions.

Recommended Applications

• Ideal for classic vehicles and modified engines that require SAE 20W-50 viscosity and meet the API SL specification.

• Can be mixed with conventional or synthetic motor oils; however, doing so may reduce the oil’s performance.

• Not recommended for use with aftermarket oil additives or engine treatments.

Service Life

Since most classic and hot rod engines do not have specific oil change intervals, AMSOIL offers general recommendations:

• Do not exceed 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) or 1 year (whichever comes first) under normal modified engine use.

• For heavily modified engines, limit use to 5,000 kilometers (3,000 miles) or 1 year (whichever comes first).
