20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil
Benefits
Exceptional High-Temperature Resistance
The AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil has been tested with a 2012 Harley-Davidson FXDB Dyna Street Bob by running the engine with the cooling system disabled, causing the engine temperature to reach as high as 500°F (to simulate parade riding conditions). The oil maintained lubrication performance close to normal conditions. As shown in the accompanying image, there was no significant change in the oil’s condition before and after testing.
Reduces Wear and Deposits
The AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil contains anti-wear additives and oxidation inhibitors, as well as detergents that prevent sludge and deposit formation from engine operation. This keeps the engine clean and prevents oil circulation blockages.
Maximum Protection for Gears and Chains
No separate gear or chain lubricant is needed. AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil provides excellent gear lubrication and achieved a perfect score of “0” in the FZG Gear Test for wear scar measurement, demonstrating its ability to withstand extreme pressure.
Outstanding Rust Protection
Motorcycles are prone to rust due to environmental humidity, which can cause severe damage such as accelerated engine wear or loss of cylinder compression. Conventional oils generally lack rust protection. AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil contains premium rust inhibitors and has passed the ASTM D-1748 rust test (see technical data).
Optimized for Wet-Clutch Performance
This oil contains no friction modifiers and has the right additive balance to allow smooth shifting, precise clutch engagement, effective heat control, prevention of slippage, and spark suppression. A high TBN (Total Base Number) helps neutralize acids formed in the engine, preventing clutch component damage and extending clutch life.
Applications
AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is suitable for air- or liquid-cooled 4-stroke engines that require SAE 80W-90, API GL-1 gear oil specifications. It is recommended for use in Harley-Davidson®, Buell, KTM, Ducati, Aprilia, BMW, Triumph, and motorcycles requiring 15W-50 or 20W-50 engine oil or SAE 90, GL-1 gear oil.
Not recommended for models requiring API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil.
Compatibility with Other Oils
It is compatible with other synthetic and conventional motorcycle oils. However, mixing will reduce performance and shorten the service life of AMSOIL synthetic oil. Therefore, AMSOIL does not guarantee extended drain intervals when mixed and does not recommend the use of any aftermarket oil additives.
Service Life
AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil supports extended drain intervals under the following conditions:
-
On-road use: 1 year or up to twice the OEM-recommended mileage
-
Harley-Davidson gearcases: Follow synthetic oil service recommendation – 32,000 km (20,000 miles) or 1 year
